Painter Kit Johns
Kit Johns is an artist who lives on the Lizard and gains inspiration from the weather and the seasons that affect it; the changing light on rough seas, day or night.
Having grown up on this coast, Kit brings his unique experience to his interpretation of the Cornish seascape. He does so through collecting driftwood, old maps and vintage newsprint relating to the local area and painting on these surfaces; always keeping their integrity so that the characteristics of the rough and pitted wood, for example or the text of the newspaper and the details of the map peer through.
Kit enjoys the alchemy of working with found plastic and resin as well as experimenting with mixed media to create his work.
